Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Shiro Sadoshima says there is a huge possibility of Bangladeshi garments products in Japan clothing market.

He told the media at the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) press conference at the International Conference Centre Bangabandhu city.

Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed was present at the conference as guest of honor. Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal Planning was present among others.

The envoy said that Japan’s largest clothing market existed in his country and Bangladesh is the second largest exporter of RMG in the world. But a few volumes of the Bangladesh Garment go to the Japanese market.

Bangladesh Garment entrepreneurs can enter the Japanese market, he added.

The envoy of Japan also provided all kinds of cooperation from their government.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed at the conference informed the media that 75 percent of Bangladesh RMG products are exported to Europe and the US markets, while 55 percent imported from Asia.

It is an imbalance in trade. In addition, there are challenges to “supply chain,” he added.

According to the head of the company at the top, Bangladesh should focus on the Asian region to balance trade.
