Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Hans-Joachim Fuchtel state of Germany said the readymade garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh has a great future and is well positioned to grow in the market world.
He made the remarks Friday after a three-day visit to Bangladesh, reports fibre2fashion.com.
Hans-Joachim, however, visited Bangladesh to get new information about the current state of Bangladesh RMG sector, the report added.
He, moreover, during his visit, met Tofael Ahmed, Minister of Trade and here different plant owners and union representatives.
At the meeting, the Minister of Commerce of Bangladesh also stressed that the country is on track to a better plant safety and improvement of working conditions in the garment industry.
Recognizing this, the German official said that Germany is not only the defense of workers’ rights and safety standards, but it has been a reliable partner for Bangladesh in terms of improvements in the sector making for many years.
Furthermore, Hans-Joachim said their development cooperation, Germany will continue to support companies of Bangladesh and the Government of Bangladesh.
However, the RMG sector provides employment to more than 4.2 million workers in Bangladesh by 3500 clothing.
