Title Danshari, meaning “clutter”, it promotes a three-step approach to reduce clutter: Stop bringing new useless possessions in your life; throw the mess in your existing living space; and separate yourself from a desire for material goods.

This does not mean that it discourages consumption. The book encourages people instead of shop smarter and invest in quality products that last longer.

Beijing Today observed a while and found some multifunctional clothes to help whittle your wardrobe.

CASHMERE COAT

Quality cashmere coats are warm and light, and a well-made coat can be worn for life.

Life in the north of China requires more than a piece of cashmere to isolate you colder, windier day. But quality coats are light enough that you can slip them in a long down jacket.

When it is in early spring or late fall, coat and sweater will be enough to keep you warm on the outside.

SLEEPING BAG

When you are still young and move between rented apartments, a good sleeping bag is more practical than most down blankets.

They are easy to pack and carry, and are useful at home or hiking. You can also place when a guest comes to visit.

Be sure to keep it clean.

GOOD PILLOWS

Danshari said a good sleeper can concentrate better at work, so invest in good pillows and a firm mattress is a smart choice.

BLACK AND WHITE CLOTHING

Black and white are always chic choice for fashion. This does not mean you can not buy colorful clothes, but your furs or more expensive leathers should be black, because they will be able to wear year after year.

RAIN BOOTS

Hunter rain boots are good for all time. Wear them in the snow by layering socks. The key word is “multi-function”.

VINTAGE BOUTIQUE

Beijing has not that many real stores “vintage”, but you can find quite a lot on Avenue East Gulou or inner Andingmen Avenue.
