•    REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals ) Restricted Substances
REACH is a European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. Manufacturers and importers are required to gather information on the properties of their chemical substances, which will allow their safe handling, and to register the information in a central database run by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki

REACH is the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It came into force on 1 June 2007.

•    Restrictions on the manufacture, placing on the market and use of dangerous substances, preparations and articles (Annex, XVII).

•    Articles and packaging materials containing over 0.1% (by weight) SVHC substances (Substances of Very High Concern).

•    Articles(products) containing substances which are intentionally released during their normal life-time use e.g. perfumery finishes on textiles.

The Agency acts as the central point in the REACH system: it manages the databases necessary to operate the system, co-ordinates the in-depth evaluation of suspicious chemicals and is building up a public database in which consumers and professionals can find hazard information

Textile and leather products belong to articles under REACH regulation. Those products might contain Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and REACH restricted substances regulation. Suppliers (manufacturers, importers or retailers) shall first identify all possible toxic chemicals in their products.

REACH is a dynamic system; this means that new restrictions can be announced anytime
