Where to Expect Restricted substances Materials test in Products for consumer product safety & Clothing safety

Certain substances on the restricted substances list are more likely to be found in certain types of materials than others. To ensure that testing is being conducted for appropriate substances and is cost-effective, prioritized supplier testing efforts accordingly. The following are the substances that most of buyer expects all Suppliers to follow as a
guide for core and randomly test for by material type;

Natural Fibers
Core test for: Azo dyes, Heavy metals, Formaldehyde and Organotin (if tin in sample >1ppm)

Randomly test for: Pentaclorophenol PCP, its salts, and esters, Pesticides (DTTB and Dieldrin).

Synthetic Fibers
Core test for: Heavy metals, Formaldehyde, Sensitizing disperse dyes , Organotin (if tin in sample >1ppm)

Randomly test for: Azo dyes

Natural and Synthetic Blends
Core test for: Azo dyes, Heavy metals, Formaldehyde, Sensitizing disperse dyes and Organotin (if tin in sample >1ppm)

Randomly test for: Pentaclorophenol PCP, its salts, and esters, Pesticides (DTTB and Dieldrin).

Thermoplastics, syntetic leathers and Inks

Core test for: Heavy metals, Formaldehyde (for certain plastics), Phthalates, Organotin compounds (if tin in sample >1ppm) and Polyvinylchloride (PVC)

Metal items
Core test for: Heavy metals (especially cadmium for coated zippers), Nickel release

Leather
Core test for: Heavy metals, Chromium VI, Formaldehyde, Azo dyes, Sensitizing disperse dyes, Organotin compounds (if tin in sample >1ppm) and and Polyvinylchloride

[(PVC) for coated leather only ]
Randomly test for: Pentaclorophenol PCP, its salts, and esters
